Introduction
The Bion Working Group first convened in July, 2007 over questions we had about a rough proposal for an ethanol plant combined with a large feedlot operation. There were a number of initial concerns that triggered the group, but the most obvious was the addition of 84,000 cattle to the 39-56,000 cattle (estimates vary) currently in the county.
Our mission is to cast a critical and independent eye on this project and the repercussions it could have on the County. We are primarily interested in the environmental, economic, and social impacts on St. Lawrence County's communities. At the present time we do not feel that we have enough information to support or oppose the project.
